Time to Look Back
... yes, another year gone
This time of year is one of my favorites (the first of May being another top contender), but it’s also challenging for its long nights and the frenzy that happens with the holidays.
We’ve just passed the winter solstice, on Sunday, with its shortest day, so I tell myself, we’re already headed back toward spring… In the meantime, I light candles in the evenings and take morning walks in the snow. If the weather is chilly, I’m also fond of wrapping up in a blanket on the couch to read.
As many others do in December, I take stock of what happened over the last twelve months.
In books, some of favorite reads this year included:
Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
I Cheerfully Refuse by Leif Enger
The Listeners by Maggie Stiefvater
Ghostroots by ‘Pemi Aguda
In movies, here are a few (old and new) I enjoyed:
Vengeance Most Fowl – yes, I’m a sucker for Wallace and Gromit
Six Triple Eight
Locke
After Yang
Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind
In my own work, my paranormal thriller, Scream of the Silent Sun, released in April, and my latest short story was published in the anthology A Right Cozy Historical Crime in October.
I’m also thrilled that another of my holiday audio stories will run on WPRB’s 25-Hour Holiday Radio Show this week.
(Looking ahead, I am delighted to be part of the January Author Expo at the Doylestown Bookshop on Jan. 24.)
You can find my book coaching packages here.
Wishing you happy holidays –
Dianna

Have a wonderful New Year, Dianna! I feel the same once we pass the solstice: Longer days and a clear path to spring!
Here's to another year of writing and reading and coaching!
